Atila Pesyani's play 'Diabolic: Romeo and Juliet' has set new record for sales at Tehran’s Iranshahr Theater.
A well-received theatrical work directed by Iranian actor/director Pesyani is now the most viewed play ever staged at the theater.
Performed April 4-27, 2018, the play had 44 shows, two every night, and attracted more than 14,000 viewers.
The theatrical work, written by prolific Iranian playwright Mohammad Charmshir, is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy 'Romeo and Juliet'.
Born in 1957, Pesyani studied theater acting and directing at the College of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, and began his acting career on stage in 1968.
He made his cinematic debut in 1983 with the movie ‘White Death’ and has since appeared in numerous films.
Besides acting, he has worked in other cinematic fields such as directing and assistant directing.
